A:No need to register, just search through the profiles and make direct contact with the workers.

A:Currently no, but we will be adding new features in the coming months. You will need to request and then check references before you decide to take anyone on.
Q:What is the cost involved?
A:It is free. The worker pays a fee to post their profile on the site.
Q:What can I do if the work carried out was unsatisfactory?
A:It is important to check references and state clearly from the outset what you are looking for and be certain the worker is suitable for your requirements. It is important to give clear instructions and monitor the work being carried out at an early stage.
Q:How can I be sure I am paying the worker fairly?
A:Most of the workers will stipulate what their hourly rate is but it is worth bearing in mind the national minimum wage as of October 2007 is £5.52 per hour. The rate for workers aged 18-21 is £4.60 an hour, while the rate for workers aged 16 to 17 is £3.40 an hour. Of course the rate of pay will depend on age, experience and area.

A:If you are looking for say a handyman and there are a couple of candidates you may wish to compare/assess before you decide to make contact.

Q:What are my legal obligations to the workers?
A:To pay a fair wage for any work carried out, as agreed by the parties. The individual worker will be protected by health and safety, and anti-discrimination legislation.
If you are looking to promote your services then all you need to do is register and describe your skills, state your hourly rate, post a picture and your contact details.
We ask that you register so that you can manage your profile. The money you earn is 100% yours to keep, there are no agencies or middlemen.
We do however urge you to keep all records/receipts for tax purposes. Additionally, any work you do must be declared to the Jobcentre if you are in receipt of any social security benefits. Further information/guidance will be provided on request by your local tax office and Jobcentre.
